Neotinea ustulata is one of two Neotinea orchid species found in the Danube-Auen National Park and was created as part of the project "The Orchids of the Danube-Auen National Park", which comprised a total of 26 painted orchid pictures and on which I worked from autumn 2020 to autumn 2023.

One of the largest and most striking works of this conservation art project, Neotinea ustulata, was created in 2021. The vibrant colors of the reddish/white flowering burnt-tip orchid stand out against the luminous, delicate skin-toned/orange background. To indicate the size of the species, blades of grass have been suggested to the side of the orchid. More information can be found in the species description in my exhibition catalog.

Due to the size of the painting, it is ideally suited as a main picture in a room, making it cheerful, elegant and lively.

The artwork measures 100 cm in height (length) and 70 cm in width. The sealed acrylic painting is mounted on a individually tailored, in available in art supply stores Stretched on a stretcher frame (approximately 1.8 cm thick).

I am increasingly using more environmentally friendly paints and materials.

I frame, prime, and undercoat many of my works myself, including this one. I skip the intermediate step of sanding the canvases, which means the painting is virtually impossible to forge, as the tiny, subtle ridges of the canvas's texture cannot be replicated. For me, these ridges represent an artistic fingerprint! In everyday viewing of the painting, these small bumps are not noticeable.
