Cephalanthera longifolia - Long-leaved forest bird (85 x 65 cm) - Christina Felicitas Teibert - 2021

The Long-leaved helleborine is one of a total of 26 painted orchid pictures in my project "The Orchids of the Danube-Auen National Park," on which I worked from autumn 2020 to autumn 2023.

Cephalanthera longifolia was created in 2021 as one of only two paintings with a diamond-shaped abstract background. The diamond-shaped background, in shades of blue, green, and soft yellow, is a distinctive feature that has recurred in my painting style ever since. The orchid blossoms shine in a white and appear very elegant against the colorful background. An unusual painting style—the beginning of an artist's continued exploration of her own creativity and painting.

The size of the painting makes it ideal as the main picture in a medium-sized room, office, waiting room, etc., which will decorate and enliven it in a cheerful and elegant way.

I am increasingly using environmentally friendly paints and materials.

I frame, prime, and prime many of my works myself, like this one. I skip the intermediate step of sanding the canvas, which has the effect of making the painting virtually impossible to fake, as the tiny bumps in the canvas's fabric structure can't be replicated. For me, these represent an artistic fingerprint! When looking at the painting in everyday life, these small bumps are not noticeable.
