The marsh orchid is one of the 26 painted orchid pictures in my project "The Orchids of the Danube-Auen National Park," which I worked on from autumn 2020 to autumn 2023.
As one of the largest and most striking works of this nature conservation art project, Epipactis palustris was created in 2022. The vibrant colors in bright pink and the green-red and white hues of the orchid bloom are a true magnet for viewers, drawing attention into a space.
Due to the size of the painting, it is excellently suited as the main picture in a room, making it cheerful and elegantly designed and enlivened.
The height (length) of the artwork is 100 cm, and the width is 70 cm. The sealed acrylic painting is stretched over a custom-cut stretcher frame (thickness approximately 1.8 cm) available at art supply stores.
I am increasingly using more eco-friendly paints and materials.
I frame, pre-prime, and prime many of my works myself, like the present piece. In doing so, I skip the intermediate step of sanding the canvases, which has the effect that the painting cannot be forged in fact, as the tiny little elevations of the fabric structure of the canvas cannot be replicated. For me, these represent an artistic fingerprint! In the everyday viewing of the painting, these small elevations do not stand out disturbingly.
